The Gem is a unique surfboard collaboration between renowned shaper Dan Mann and 3-time World Longboard Champion, Taylor Jensen. Taylor approached Dan earlier this year, seeking a versatile longboard that would balance two key attributes: the ability to trim (ride smoothly) and execute turns. This idea was born out of a desire for a "one board in the trunk" solution that could function well in both scenarios, bridging the gap between Taylor’s existing models, the TJ Pro (focused on performance) and the TJ Everyday (a more versatile board).
Dan's design cleverly incorporates shortboard-like concaves with the classic longboard outline, along with Taylor’s preferred fin setup. This blend allows the board to perform a wide range of maneuvers, including both nose riding (trimming) and carving on rails, making it a versatile tool for longboarders.
The model's name, "The Gem," reflects its value as a one-board quiver for 9-foot-plus surfers, offering the perfect balance of performance and flow. Its distinctive diamond tail shape is a nod to its name, further highlighting its special role in a surfer’s lineup.
